Using paint beyond its image making qualities, Mariya is curious about its physicality and transformation from liquid to something fixed. Her work explores the intersection between painting and sculpture, questioning the role of the support and the relationship of the painting to the wall, where the painted element is no longer attached to, or dependent upon the support.
